Copy the messages to a subfolder of Local Folders, confirm the messages are complete, then Remove the account by selecting it in the left pane of Tools/Account Settings, then Account Actions at the bottom of the left pane, Remove. You can't delete the default account, so set another account as default, in Account Actions, then delete the other one.

If your other account is IMAP, you can copy messages to it from Local Folders if necessary, but not in large numbers at once, to avoid upload restrictions on IMAP servers.
