Thunderbird 68.1.0 issues
Thunderbird has upgrade from version 60.9 (32 bits) to version 68.1 (32 bits) but in this process, under Windows 7 x64 SP1, the program is working in worst conditions.
- When start (running Thunderbird from Icon Desktop), the calendar don´t appeared until some accounts checking occurred (and sometimes does not appear at all and I have to close the app and run it again),
- the calendar show its information with some delay (is less faster than the previous version),
- some add-ons (like CardBook) don´t work fine (the address book data appear and disappear).
I have been using Thunderbird since many years ago, and I wish to thanks all the efforts to give us a free and good software, but the version 68,1 has worsened the reliable previous versions and I hope this issues can be solved in future releases. I have reinstall the program, importing the messages bases, accounts, etc., but the 68.1 version is still less reliable than 60.9. I don´t know if the x64 bits version could be faster, but I have installed Kaspersky Total Security 2019 and its works. I think, with 32 bits versions only. Thanks

The CardBook author is aware of some issues. You should visit the CardBook support site and if your issue is not listed then please create a new issue for it.
Are your calendar issues resolved by 68.1.1 just out? If not please let's explore them in detail.
I have been working with Thunderbird since many, many years ago, and I want to thanks the valuable work of the teams involved in this project. When TB has change to the new version (68 and above) from the previous one (60) I have observed some issues. These performance issues of TB 68.1.0 and 68.1.1, x32 and x64 bits, under Windows 7 x64 SP1 are the following:
A. At startup, TB check for new email messages. In the previous version (60), when the program is launch the mini calendar pane is loaded immediately (TB_68-1-1_01.jpg), but in the newer version while the accounts are been checked, suddenly, the mini calendar appear from the "bottom of the screen" (the TB message window is narrowed, part of the screen wallpaper is visible and the mini-calendar pane is finally loaded). In some occasions the mini-calendar pane is not loaded at all, and it is necessary to select the Calendar bar to show the calendar and return then to the Messages Window. Evidently, this is only a somewhat annoying issue, but I don´t know if it is a "signal" of some kind of possible future problem.
B. Every time I select the Addons menu (from the Tool bar) appear, very quickly, all the addons in YELLOW (with an alert description message that I can´t read), and then all are later "recognized" (TB_68-1-1_02.jpg). I think that the new version (68) are doing some kind of verify process (check every addons, detect some error, show the text alert, like the one that is displayed when one addon is not correct for the version and, finally "accept" the addon as a valid one, showing its name in black color). With the previous version this issue never happened, and after select the AddOn option, all the addons appeared immedietly without any alert message.
As you can see, these issues are not apparently serious, but when you are using a program and discover some "misfunctions" obviously think that something is going wrong, loosing confidence in the program. I suppose that the important changes in TB 68 will be improved with every new release, and I have commented on them to give to the programmers the feedback they could need to attain a better code. I have wrote some programs many, many years ago and I know that when an important change is made you never know if one piece of software that previuosly were working fine, suddenly show some problem. I´m checking the logs and trying to resolve by my self these issues, but I recognize that my mind tend to work with the old "procedural model" and less with the present "object-model" (the times when machine code was the "working area", when the BBS and the 2.400 bps modems were the "top" of the technology). The Card Book addon does not work at all and I have uninstall it in the 68.1.1 version (TB address book data never remain loaded). Thanks
Remove disabled Carbook and install CardBook 42.4 and it should be compatible. https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/cardbook/
