Last night I suddenly started having issues with resizing the Firefox window in Windows 10. It seems to have increased its minimum size by 25% when adjusted to the side of the screen. I haven't installed anything new that would've suddenly caused this, it just suddenly happened after readjusting it once, something I do regularly with no issue. I've tried restarting my PC and it won't go back to being able to be resized to what I used to be able to do (the red line). Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Current window size vs the size I used to be able to adjust to: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/590602245586812930/688093403979972638/firefoxwindowsize.png

I dont remember the minimum window width in Firefox 73, but in Firefox 74, it appears to be set to 450 pixels, and in my case 569 pixels.

You can override the 450 pixel rule using your own style rule in a userChrome.css file. I posted steps for that in another thread:

Hello,

The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.

Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.

To Refresh Firefox:

  1. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
    • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
    • If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
  2. At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
  3. Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
  4. Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.

Did this fix the problem? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Resetting did not solve the problem, and it reset and removed all my add-ons and settings. I don't appreciate this at all. The window is still not able to be adjusted past the point in the image.

I think the answer that I'm looking for is, what exactly determines the minimum size the window can be adjusted to? I'm able to completely flatten the window vertically, but it's stuck at the size in the image when sizing horizontally and refuses to go past that limit.

As I mentioned before, this is something that suddenly happened yesterday as I was always able to adjust the size even further up until it started doing this.

Thank you for the information. I will look into this.

Edit: This information worked like a charm for my issue. The problem is currently solved. However, Firefox should certainly revert to their previous pixel limit because this newer update is highly inconvenient.
