Hello,

Just recently, PDF files are now automatically downloaded in my designated download location even though that in the Applications settings, I have chosen Use Adobe Acrobat Reader when a PDF file is to be opened.

A software I use for work generates a lot of PDF files and up to a few days ago, they would open in Adobe and then I would decide to save them if needed. Now they open in Adobe but save them on my desktop at the same time (chosen location for downloads).

Is this happening to anyone else? Is there a way to resolve this in the about:config menu?

Thanks for the help everyone.

Hope I am not wrong here, but aren't the files you open in an application always downloaded to your PC first, then it is the newly downloaded copy that is opened from your disk?

The difference is that in older Firefox they were first saved to a temporary folder on your drive before they were opened, whereas in FF98 they are first saved to your downloads folder before being opened?

Unfortunately I do not know how to change the location of where the temp copies of opened files aar saved to, but would too be interested to see if there is a method.

The change was made by version 98.0. A temporary fix (if it works) is to change a preference in about:config. Refer to the thread linked below. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1370494
