Is there way to get to desktop through mini-icon or set icon without closing all open screens with XP professional?

1. Press Windows key+D 2. You should have a "Show Desktop" icon in your Quick Lauch toolbar next to the "Start" button. Sometimes the "Show Desktop" icon goes missing according to some, but I have never experienced that.
