详细了解

Cannot close tabs as sites open, no 'X' in tabs. Each new site visited creates another, unclsable tab.

On all 4 betas, including RC, each time I visit a website, a new tab opens, which has no 'X' to close, thus it stays open until I close Firefox and restart. How do I close a tab to a visited site? It really clutters things. Previous versions (3 series) have an 'X' which allows one to close an open tab. None of the betas or current RC have a close button. Do I have to exit Firefox in order to get rid of a dozen unclosable tabs? Only way around I found so far is to disable tabs.

Right-click a tab and select Close Tab, or middle-click a tab to close it.

Thanks for the ideas, but neither worked, I have the entry correct at '1' (show close 'X' on tab)and there is no close option when I right click or middle click. I also found that, since installing 4.0, I am no longer able to start up directly in my homepage, that it always asks for email & password.

Again, all was well until I tried 4.x betas & RC. I am getting a bit fed up with this, as I can't go back to earlier version.

Any other ideas short of uninstalling/reinstalling, as I've done this on numerous occasions? Thanks again

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

cor-el, The last time was a charm. I went in Safe mode, reset to defaults and viola, all is well! I had to re-sign in Last Pass & a few others, but not only do I have my 'Xs' back, but Firefox 4 now remembers my sign in, etc., just like the 'old days'.

Thanks for all the help everyone!
