I have Firefox 14.0.1 and when I open it SOMETIMES the AVG toolbar is not there but sometimes it is. When it is not there the space for it to be in is there but nothing is in it. This happens often and I have to open another Firefox screen and go on doing so until one with the AVG toolbar appears

Do you need the AVG toolbar? Some people have reported that it causes problems with Firefox.

I like the AVG toolbar because it is the easiest way to clear history, cookies etc. and is quicker in getting to AVG speedtest, etc What I cannot understand is why it appears sometimes when I open Firefox but not every time.

Thanks for your reply - I am a non technical "silver surfer"....trying to understand computers !!!

As a fellow "silver surfer", you shouldn't have to rely on an "add-on" to perform actions in Firefox which are easily accomplished without using an add-on.

{Ctrl + Shft + Delete} opens Firefox's Clear Recent History button - hit the Details button to see and select the type of data that you want to clear - and then hit the Clear Now button.

As far as that AVG Speedtest, can't you just save a bookmark to that page?

Full disclosure: I dumped AVG-Free back in 2008 after using it for a number of years, due to changes in the newest version at that time.

Hi the-edmeister Thank you for your reply - most helpful and something I had not picked up from Firefox, they are not very helpful for silver searchers. I am sure new technology is for the young but I am determined to be the "boss" of my computer, I don't want cookies or anything that gets on it and stays there.
