When I go on Facebook, some images come up with a description and some actually show.

On internet forums, some images show up and some just have the word "image" instead.

Google images is fine and will show everything I want pretty much.

My specification is the latest Firefox download on an XP machine.

I have the javascript and automatic loading on. I tried the delete cache and cookies facility and I installed the latest Firefox and the issue still persists, in fatc worse than before.

Until my previous install prior to this one, the issue never happened and even trying to reload images provides marginal success.

It got to the point some weeks ago, where I needed to use I.E. to use Facebook and I'd prefer to use Firefox, because unlike I.E, I don't have to wait for content to appear sometimes when I scroll down the page on Facebook.

You should remove the MyStart Toolbar as it is considered as malware. I usually reccomend using AdwCleaner to remove possible annoyances.

You can use these steps to check if images are blocked:

  • Open the web page that has the images missing in a browser tab.
  • Click the Site Identity Button (globe/padlock) on the left end side of the location bar.
  • Click the "More Information" button to open the "Page Info" window with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
  • Go to the Media tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.
  • Select the first image link and scroll down through the list with the Down arrow key.
  • If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "Block Images from..." then remove this check-mark to unblock images from this domain.

There are also extensions like Adblock Plus (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block images and other content.

It seems like pretty much all the issues were stemming from that toolbar, which has since been junked.

Thanks for your help.

Note that your system details list shows the presence of a user.js file in the profile folder. You may want to check its content if you didn't create this file yourself.
