Do you have a password on your user account? Does anyone know it or can they guess it? Try changing it.

I do have a password but I don't think anyone knows it. It is possible, but unlikely. Maybe I should change the password since I haven't changed it in some time.

It might also be useful to know where in your directory structure these files are, how you're determining that they've been opened, where you're seeing sites accessed, and what the dates of those accesses are in relation to the current date.

Some possibilities are:

-- The files are in common areas that a guest would touch either directly or indirectly through Windows' functions.

-- Your antivirus has walked the files.

-- An application you have is saving log files and such in a subfolder.

-- You've been sleep-computing and just don't know it. (kidding)

-- You're seeing tracks of a guest's activity showing up because you have administrative access and can see their activity as well as your own.

Again, hard to say what's going on without further details, but these are just some of the scenarios I have come across over the years that seem suspicious and aren't.

Another place you'll want to look for proof is the Event Viewer under Security to see if there are recorded logons under your name for dates you can't recall. And under System to look for records of boots that you're not aware of, though this can take some serious event filtering to determine. But I'd start with EventID 6009 which is the recording of the CPU at boot time.

But if you're seeing your computer booted at times you're not familiar with and those dates match up with your mystery files, it could put you on a trail.
