I have here an acer 510 tablet with android 4.1.2 and firefox stable.

Very often I get the message "proxy-server denied connection, firefox was configured to use a proxy server that denied the connection" (or something like that, the device is non-english).

I don't know what is going on because on my computer and smaprthone firefox is working. Never saw this message on other devices. Every of these devices is also in the same Wifi Connection. What is this proxy? or who? I don't use any of this, did never configured firefox. Why is firefox working on other devices but not here? How to solve this problem?

Yes, with those images: Network.proxy.type 5 uses the system settings. And there is no auto login for any proxy. Is it possible if the wifi is the same network as you say that the network may be forcing traffic through a proxy.

If the network requires a network proxy configuration you can read more about this in this article and Android's network configuration: http://w3epic.com/how-to-setting-proxy-on-android-phon... The downside is that the default browser may not detect this, but firefox will detect the auto proxy with the settings you have in the screenshots currently.

This forum talks about an autoproxy for Gingerbread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1297256 but I am not an expert on this.

You can also download Firefox beta, which is now on version 29 that has shumway. :-) Let us know what you think.

Check to see if the wifi connection is different when you get this message, or see if there is a website that consistently is giving you this message. What you can do is clear the app data or clear the cache then reload the page to see if it is an old webpage as well.

You can also go to the about:config to see if there are any proxies configured by searching for proxy. Ideally though the network preferences should be taken from the device.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. The Firefox cache temporarily stores images, scripts, and other parts of websites while you are browsing.
Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies, do the following:

  1. Tap the menu icon located at the top right corner. This is the icon with 3 bars. On older Android devices you'll have to press the hardware menu key and then tap More.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. After that, you will be taken to the settings screen. In the settings screen, look under the section Privacy & Security and select Clear private data.
  4. You will then be taken to a list of what can be cleared. Select the following 2 for deletion:
    • Cookies & active logins
    • Cache
  5. After those have been selected, tap the Clear data button to actually clear the cache and cookies.

Did this help you with your problems? Please let us know!

Hi guigs2 and Thank you. The wifi is always the same, even if I get this error message. I have to say, that there are sites that cause this problem more often than others. But sometimes even on google.com this is happening.

Checking about:config and searching for proxy I can see something like this (see pictures, this ok?).

I will clear the data as you mentioned and we will see if there are any changes.

PS: But yeah especially some flash pages (using flash 11 on firefox) are sometimes really hard to reach - could this be a problem, because I'm using unsupported flash on firefox? (I have to because there are some few pages that will only run with flash). I heard mozilla is working on something that is called 'shumway', I'm really waiting for this :)
