Can't download itunes64setup.exe with Firefox 27.0.1 under Win 8 and Win 8.1, but works ok with IE
The download process initiated from page http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ goes as far as asking whether to save but then does not save at all and goes straight to the "Thankyou for downloading . . ." webpage.
Reluctantly I tried the download with IE11.0.9600.16521 and that worked without a glitch.
Downloading the 32bit version with a Win7 laptop works fine. It also is using Firefox 27.0.1.

It's a known issue. If the page in the background changes to the Thank You page while you're still picking a download location, the download won't start. The trick is to choose "Save files to: (specific folder)", under Options - General, or to quickly pick a download location using an add-on like Save File To.
- Startup, home page, tabs, and download settings
- https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/save-file-to/
If you're interested in the technical details, this the bug report to watch.
- Bug 918000 - Cannot download new version of iTunes from the Apple website
Either that or the one it depends on.
- Bug 673366 - me.com file download fails when "Always ask me where to save files" is enabled
