I had to wipe out my computer and re-install Thunderbird. Unfortunately, I did not back up the latest Thunderbird profile, but had to use an earlier profile I had backed up. Now I can receive all emails, but cannot send any emails. (I am able to send email through Spectrum webmail.) In Spectrum, I have a main account, and 3 subaccounts. In the Outgoing Server SMPT settings in Thunderbird, where it asks User Name, which email account do I use, the main one or one of the subaccounts? I seems the SMPT setting is for both the main and the three subaccounts, not for each separately. Also, is there something else I need to do as I didn’t back up the latest Thunderbird profile? Thanks!

Probably after the last update I am not able to simply do "Folder Maintenace" by File > Do Folder Mainenace. After doing this the process gives an error message:

"You cannot maintain the "Recycle Bin in xxx@xxx.net" folder because you cannot write to the folder. Check that you have enough disk space and write permissions to the folder and repeat the action.

This started to happen simultaneously on all my devices (two PCs, one notebook), all with updated Windows 11 and with last version of Thunderbird (128.5.2esr (64 bit) and also both in my personal and working mail domains. All of them are IMAP.

If I try to maintain only the trash bin separately, it takes a long time and finishes without any error message. But trying after that the complete maintain again fails.

I tried to delete trash files from the account profile on the disc and then it work. But only until I deleted any message. Then the problem ocurred again.

I am not sure whether I am doing good or bad to maintain folders regularly, but it was okay and without problems yet around month ago, not now.

Thank you, Michal

For over a year when I start Thunderbird I get "Login to server pop3.frontiernet.net" failed and it asks me for a new password. I have no clue. I have no clue where I get that.

Years back everything worked fine and I had a long history of email saved, then it all went to hell. Frontier mail hooked up with Yahoo!mail. A Version change with Thunderbird caused it to stop connecting to my [edited] @frontiernet.net account for quite a while then it was working again but started giving me the Login Failed and asking me for a new password until it would finally connect without my having given it anything. What should I do?

Why does Thunderbird make Spam problems so complicated? It's too complicated. Why not give us the power to simply identify the Spammer? Why "Junk" and "Spam." If they're the same, why use two words? Why the need to "train?" The NERDS have taken over!!!

Believe me, the system is far too complicated, and you can see that by the pages required to explain the policy. I've tried numerous times to identify an email as SPAM, to no effect. It seems that Tbird cannot be trained. And this month, a dear friend whose email is on my Address list got sent to JUNK three different times with no action from me. Why? Why the need for a Bayesan method of training? It's ridiculous. It's not working. Does Tbird treat SPAM and JUNK the same way? If so, why two different names for the same thing? I think the programmers could spend their volunteered time in much more useful and helpful ways. I'm grateful for Tbird, but this SPAM issue is a very bad, annoying feature. Let us decide simply who the SPAM addresses are. If we make a mistake, that's our responsibility. No need for Tbird to be so patronizing. You're acting like this is too complicated for us and so you must protect us from ourselves. Typical B.S..

Hello: w11p auto updated, tbird dev build 128.5.2 esr 64bit (only, no stable here!), so...1) I DON'T know if this is a "my" problem or a bug. I also don't know if this issue happens in stable. So, 2) Do I HAVE to use the top menu item - message>attachments>delete- (the attachment is already hilighted)?

What I needed to do: modify the already-attached pdfs to add signature.

-History: I learned the hard way that (apparently-- note the "me?" or bug, & dev build, above), that drag & drop* do not work. Moving on from that, I tried merely 1- highlighting the attachment, & hitting the delete key 2) using the R mouse button & using the "delete attachment" choice. 3) I may have tried other things but geezer excuse, sorry, I can't remember what else. They all failed, the attachments remained. 4) I ended up just creating a new msg, pasting the msg body into that new msg & editting the pdfs using Mozilla pdf built-in editor (Note: THANKS VERY MUCH, MOZ STAFF, FOR IMPLEMENTING PDF EDITOR!!!), then re-attaching the pdfs (always for this prob, as attachment).

  • ideally, what I wanted to do was merely drag the attachment to the desktop, edit it, then redrag & drop the editted pdf back into the t-bird attachment pane, and tbird would recognize this modified file & replace the old unmodified file w/the modified one. Absolutely no go on my try on this. (By "no go" here, I mean that the modified file wasn't there. The original pdf w/o signature stayed, the modified pdf w/signature added never got into attachments. File name remained the same.)

So, what do I want ? Simply for context & other non-top menu items to work, to mod or delete a file in attachments. Thank you, stay safe.

Hello All, I'm new to Thunderbird and here is something I'm wondering about: I created all my accounts and set everything to Unified ... all works fine. All 5 accounts show under "All Folders" ... if it's also checked, but I don't use it usually. In Unified view, however, UNDER the unified folders, my primary account is missing...?!? Again, I'm talking about the account list UNDER the unified folders! ... not the "All Folders" list! (if it's checked) (I usually don't have "All Folders" on)

The drop-down lists of the single unified folders, however, e.g. Inbox, Sent, etc., DO SHOW the primary account! (On a side note: under Drafts only four accounts show ...?)

So, why is the primary account missing in the list UNDER Unified folders ... (there are only four plus "Local Folders") but it is listed in the separate unified folders, if opened..? I hope explained it clear enough.

Please see attachments

BTW, at my home computer, ALL accounts are showing (in Unified view) under the unified folders. Please let me know what I did wrong or if I have to explain it better.

Thanks
