I hate this new version! What happened to the little house that got me back to the Firefox start page?

When I am through with gmail, I want to go back to the Firefox start page, with the google bar. The little house icon that used to do that is no longer there.

How can I get back to the earlier version?

It's on the right-side of the Navigation Toolbar, to the right of the Search Bar.

Thanks for your reply. The problem seems to be that I don't have a search bar -- which I assume is another name for an address bar? I'm also guessing the navigation bar is the one that begins -- on the far left -- with "most visited"?

I have scrutinized every inch of the screen, and there is no little house, as shown on your reply.

Any more help would be appreciated. Thanks, again

Thanks again for your answer. I did install the earlier version, but nothing on the screen changed. I still don't have a navigation bar, no little house, no back and forward. In order to return to Foxfire home page, I have to go to most visited. I still prefer Firefox to Explorer, but this new version is making me begin to rethink that feeling.

Thanks again at your efforts to help me.

If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key, that should make the menu bar appear.

  • Go to "View > Toolbars" and check-mark "Menu Bar" with a click if you want to make that permanent

See Restore the Menu bar in Firefox)

Make sure that the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"

  • If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
  • If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
  • If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.
